This poster was created for the first official presbymergent conference, held at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, October 12-13 2007. It was a challenge for me, because I wanted to be able to be able to represent the main tagline of presbymergent: loyal radicals. So there needed to be a nod to tradition (hence, the primary image of the pews) but also have a graphic design to it that was more edgy and modern.

I think the choices of fonts helped with this – and I was very pleased with the way it turned out. The colors are very rich and the design seems to come off as bold and striking. I know that people responded very well to the poster design.

With my work in the alternative worship movement (specifically the service I helped to create, .bE), I have made many versions of this poster to help advertise for this special alt.worship gathering.It’s helped me to think about poster design and how best to communicate enough information on a poster, without putting too much on it so that it gets cluttered.
